“We don’t see things as they are. We see them as we are” Beauty Expert and Stylist, Franco Lacosta is first and foremost, an artist. A native New Yorker, Franco was discovered at 19 while studying fine arts and photography at the Pratt Institute in New York City by Italian designer, Gianfranco Ferre. At 21, as a fashion model, he had become the face of an Italian brand and had begun traveling and discovering the world. Soon, he settled in Paris to work as an international model and as insider in the fashion industry. It was during this tenure, that he discovered the importance of the attention to technique, the beauty of a skillful approach, and intricacies of detail in the world of fashion and beauty. Living between London, Paris and New York provided the perfect arena for him to hone his craft as a photographer. And it was in these capitals of fashion that he developed his "Eye" for aesthetic, design and sophistication and it informed in new ways, his photography, his art direction and in his production. His work revealed an instinctive sense of beauty seeking the offerings of new possibility. Working with masters like Isabella Blow and couture houses like Chanel, Dior, Gaultier, and McQueen deeply shaped Franco as a stylist. While, in Manhattan, during his involvement with Sephora’s flagship store, Franco created a loyal following with his beauty insights, cutting edge make-up techniques and his expertise in skin care. Franco’s editorial photographs and covers have been published in French Vogue, American Elle and 25ans (Japan), among many others. His celebrity portraits feature icons such as Patricia Fields and Celia Cruz. Most recently, however, he has been collaborating with Naeem and Ranjana Khan, documenting, via photography and video, the making of their collections. He is also collaborating with Roberto Devillacis - with PR efforts, design, styling celebrities for red carpet events like the Oscars, and documenting events for - A beauty day for Top bloggers with Diane Von Furstenberg. All these experiences and projects have lead to being creative director for television, film and print, and director of photography. |
